Basketball

Basketball is a team sport in which two teams, typically consisting of five players each, compete to score points by shooting a ball through the opposing team’s hoop or basket. The game is played on a rectangular court with a hoop at each end, elevated at a height of 10 feet (3.05 meters). Points can be scored in various ways: a field goal scored from inside the three-point line is worth two points, a field goal made from beyond the three-point line is worth three points, and free throws are worth one point each.

The objective of basketball is to score more points than the opposing team by manipulating the ball through dribbling and passing, while also playing defense to prevent the other team from scoring. The game emphasizes skills such as shooting, dribbling, passing, and rebounding, as well as teamwork and strategy. Basketball is played at various levels, from amateur leagues to professional competitions, and is popular worldwide, both as recreational activity and as a professional sport.
