J2 League

The J2 League is the second tier of professional football in Japan, sitting below the J1 League. It was established in 1999 and operates under the auspices of the Japan Football Association (JFA). The league features a promotion and relegation system with the J1 League, allowing the top teams from the J2 League to advance to the higher division while the bottom teams may be relegated to the lower divisions. Typically, the league consists of multiple teams that compete in a round-robin format, where each team plays against others, earning points for wins and draws. The J2 League serves as a platform for clubs and players to develop, with many aspiring to reach the J1 League and achieve greater success in Japanese football.
